Concept
The Capital Cascades Complex is a forward-looking mixed-use hotel and workshare project designed to anchor revitalization efforts on the south side of Tallahassee’s downtown. The project integrates hospitality, flexible workspace, and entertainment while incorporating automated parking systems and an unmanned aerial vehicle landing pad, anticipating the future of urban mobility.
Its signature feature, the Skylounge, offers unobstructed views of Cascades Park, creating a dynamic connection between the city’s cultural green space and this vertical urban hub.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Program
Hotel Functions (30,000 sf): Medium-sized rooms (300–500 sf) with integrated work/relaxation zones, bathrooms, and exterior views.
Workshare Functions (7,000 sf): Reception and admin offices, open office space, private offices, conference areas, and restrooms.
Bar & Lounge (3,000 sf): Social and leisure hub activating the upper floors.
Automated Parking Garage (15,000 sf): Stacked “car vending machine” system for electric vehicles.
Rooftop Drone Pad: Preparing for drone-based logistics and future aerial passenger services.
Entry Nodes: Reception, waiting areas, elevators, and two egress stairs.
Total Building Area: ~70,000 sf

Design Strategies
Urban Integration: Positioned directly south of Cascades Park, with views and circulation reinforcing its relationship to the city’s public green space.
Vertical Mixed-Use: Stacking hotel, workshare, leisure, and technology-driven functions in a compact footprint.
Mobility & Technology: Automated parking and rooftop drone pad illustrate the fusion of architecture with emerging infrastructure.
Public Experience: Skylounge and restaurant establish the building as a social and cultural destination, extending Cascades Park’s role into the vertical realm.
